Dissociation and the Now is my first merchandised collection, but relevant to it being my first drop as a designer, it is my story. It began with a panic attack at age fifteen, which lead to hundreds by age seventeen. I revived my story at Polimoda by sewing a jumpsuit. I then sewed another, and another. Dissociation and the Now is an exploration of the visual symptoms caused by panic attacks, represented by the draping of a distorted jumpsuit, with exaggerated, doubled, or twisted elements and proportions. This is my visual representation of how trauma can alter you in endless ways. It is my visual representation of what I saw during these panic attacks. Each garment in this collection began with the same jumpsuit. Storms can make flowers grow…
